In Person: THINK LIKE A CHAMPION: An Informal Education in Business and Life by Donald J. Trump

Purpose of IN PERSON is to provide insights from biographies into the key traits of successful business personnel & politicians.

Donald J. Trump is without a doubt one of the world's most inspiring, educative, amiable, forceful and compelling businessman (and of course President of The United States of America). His distinct charismatic & charming style has captured billions of fans and admirers worldwide, and he continues to surprise us in over and over again. His blunt and sharp yet subtle and tactile business acumen and lessons continue to be uplifting & motivating.

I've always been a admirer of Donald J.Trump's THE APPRENTICE, and it has been one of my desires to visit Trump Hotels.

THINK LIKE A CHAMPION : An Informal Education in Business is a powerful book for it's lessons in simplicity & studying. His lessons are beyond the world of business his writing style is in broad strokes with the appropriate level-of-detail.

Here are some take-out's I found valuable:

Foreword: by Robert Kiyosaki  - xi  "He can be blunt because his thoughts, words, and actions are integrated, congruent, operating as one."

Introduction: xv - "One reason people don't like me is because I'm blunt.  But one reason I'm successful is that I can cut through the nonsense quickly and get to the core of things"

Page 2 - "What's different today is that we have a new chance, a new beginning. The world is excited about Barack Obama and the new United States.  Let's keep it that way"

Page 5 - "Being true to yourself and your work is an asset.  Remember that assets are worth protecting.  No one will ever tell you it will be easy to stick to your own convictions, but I believe it is necessary.  Otherwise, what are you doing and who are you doing it for?  Keep it straight, and simple.  You'll be richer - in more ways than one - in the long run.

Page 7 - "People often talk about something new being "innovative".  Most of the time, it's simply putting together existing elements to create what appears to be new.  I was touted as being innovative when I came up with the mixed-use condominium and hotel  tower, which I did with the Trump International Hotel & Tower in New York City"

Page 11 - "I have always known the importance of having the ability to be a team player, even though I am an entrepreneur.  In a big sense, we're all in this together, and thinking otherwise won't t give us the results we might be aiming for.  More than ever, working together is integral to survival as well as to success"

Page 15 - "It's important to remain open to new ideas and new information"

Page 17 - "Never think of learning as being a burden or studying as being boring.  It may require some discipline, but it can  be an adventure.  It can also prepare you for a new beginning"

Page 60 - "Success if often a matter of patience, and patience can be developed if you don't have it naturally"

Page 78 - "Having an ego and acknowledging it is a healthy choice.  Our ego is the centre of our consciousness and gives us a sense of purpose.  People with no ego will have very little life force, and people with too much will tend toward dictatorial personalities.  As with everything, keeping a good balance is important."

Page 84 - "Remember that things are cyclical, so be resilient, be patient, be creative, and remain positive.  Reinvention can be a good thing for everyone"

Page 86 - "That's why I like Warhol's statement about good business being the best art.  It's a fact.  That's also another reason I see my business as an art and so I work it passionately"

Page 94 - "Entrepreneurs are driven by their own inner forces, and it's a great way of life as well as great approach to life"

Page 102 - "The best thing to remember here is Winston Churchill's advice to never give up: "Never, never, never, never, never in nothing great or small;, large or petty, never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense"

Page 157 - "A great portion of life and business involves acting.  Life is a performance art, no matter what field you are in. I've come to understand that fact over the years, and it's a helpful thing to realize"
